<itunes:summary>This show explores the emotional and spiritual transformations associated with becoming a mother. Amy Robbins-Wilson leads the search for wisdom that used to be provided by a nearby grandmother or sister.

This show celebrates the profound joy and love that we moms share but it does not shy away from the difficult aspects of motherhood. Is mothering wonderful? Yes. But the post partum period is also exhausting and overwhelming. This show offers new moms comfort and inspiration during those trying times and beyond.

Topics include both an honest examination of the transformational issues of new moms and constructive ways to deal with them. These issues include the devaluation of motherhood in our society, the impact of geographic fragmentation on new moms and their families, the new relationships mothers must form, and the spiritual impact of becoming a mom.

Parenting tips and advice are sometimes included but our focus goes beyond childcare to delving into our souls as mothers. We explore mothering as a spiritual practice and a transformational journey.

Host Amy Robbins-Wilson holds masters degrees in Expressive Arts Therapy and Ritual Song and Chant Performance. She is the Lullaby Lady at Lullaby-Link.com and is the Mom's Choice Award winning author of Transformational Mothering - A Prayerful Companion for New Mothers. She is also an award winning recording artist who has released three CDs including Lullaby and Goodnight - 33 Lullabies for Babies, Circling and The Divine Hours of Motherhood - Lullabies and Prayers for Mothers and Babies. Her website and blog can be found at AmyRobbinsWilson.com.

This podcast is designed to be entertainment and is not a substitute for professional medical advice.

The opening music is a clip from the Ballyeamon Cradle Song and the closing music is a clip from the song Vessel. Both are from Amy's CD The Divine Hours of Motherhood - Lullabies and Prayers for Mothers and Babies.</itunes:summary>

For me purple is the color of spiritual healing and I am thrilled that we will now have a purple backdrop for the Healing Music circles. Now to find some flowers…

I hope you will join us on September 2, 2pm EST for our very first Healing Music Circle for those who have lost a child.

This year we saw four moose, two rabbits, two spruce hens, countless toads and frogs and I held a dragonfly in my hand as it dried its wings so it could return to flight. But the most beautiful sight was watching my son run down the trail, hiking stick in hand, following his father singing CCR ”Doo, doo, doo looking out my backdoor!”

I will always associate deep peace and happiness with Baxter State Park. Where do you go to renew yourself?

A whole new site, new live online streaming Healing Music Circles, a renewed focus on music and healing.

This summer has been a time of contemplation as well as action. I was feeling burned out in June and asked myself “Who am I really?” “What is it that I am to bring to the world?” “Who am I here to serve?” and “What is it, that if I do not do it, I will always regret?”

The resounding response from my soul was Healing Music. I needed to focus more on bringing healing music to the world. I had become a Healing Music Artist that didn’t sing much!

So that is now changing!

I will be doing live online streaming Healing Music Circles for those who have lost a child as well as for families healing in the NICU. There will be more circles to come but we are starting there for now. There are many more exciting developments that I will tell you about as they happen.

I hope you will join my new Facebook page. I will still be talking about Musical Parenting but will be focused more broadly on the healing power of music. I will be taking down my “Voice for New Moms” facebook page soon.

If you are a parent who has lost a child you may also want to join our Angel Baby Lullabies Facebook page to get notifications on upcoming Angel Baby Remembrance Concerts and Healing Music Circles.

One of my jobs this summer was selling my needle felted dolls, knit toys and music at our local Art Market. These items have now moved to my Etsy Shop- Angelsong Creations. I hope you will check it out and let me know what you think.

Thanks so much for being a part of this journey!

Hugs to you!
Amy

Lately it seems everywhere I look there is an article about Hilary Duff’s pregnancy weight gain. Critics claim she should be losing it faster or should not have gained so much to begin with. It makes me livid. She had her baby less than three months ago for heaven’s sake!

I was so sleep deprived in those first few months that I couldn’t even think of losing the weight until my son was 7 months old. I don’t care if Beyonce (or any of the other celeb moms) lost their weight in mere weeks. Being beautifully fit immediately after birth is not an indicator of good mothering or supermomdom (in my opinion).

Each of us has our own journey and I applaud Hillary Duff for being able to take the pressure in stride. It is a joy to see a celeb mom who is not afraid to be a mere mortal.

Hilary, I think you are fabulous, and beautiful and Luca is a lucky little guy. I hope you are singing to him! Welcome to the journey of motherhood.

***

What do you think of celeb weight loss stories? How long did it take you to lose your baby weight?
